The 2005 Malartic Lagraviere Blanc shows just how well dry Bordeaux whites age. Now nearly sixteen years old, the 2005 shows no signs of fading. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint, sage and tangerine oil are some of the many notes that run through the 2005. Bright and sculpted, with the texture that develops only with many years in bottle, the 2005 is just gorgeous today.

Made in a beautiful, elegant, zesty style, the 2005 Malartic Lagraviere offers copious quantities of honeyed grapefruit and other assorted citrus, crushed rock, spring flower, nectarine, and marmalade as well as brilliant acidity, and a bright, refreshing, mineral-dominated personality. It should evolve for 10-15 or more years. Wine Advocate.April, 2008

Tasted blind at the 2005 Southwold tasting, the 2005 Malartic-Lagraviere Blanc was showing some oxidation on the nose, rendering it not unlike a Tondonia Blanco from Rioja (although that might appeal to some!). The palate is simple with light tropical notes, less oxidation but it comes across as rather flat and uninteresting. This was a strange showing from a wine that has shown well previously. Tasted June 2017. Aug 2017, www.robertparker.com
