Score 87/100 · Drink 1998-2006, Robert Parker, Feb 1998

A delicious, attractive, Merlot-dominated wine, the 1995 La Vieille-Cure presents a deep ruby color, attractively sweet, ripe, black cherry, kirsch, and cedar-tinged aromatics, round, ripe, medium-bodied flavors with some grip and tannin, excellent purity, and a nicely layered finish. This wine can be drunk now as well as over the next 7-8 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

1995 La Vieille Cure: Good color. Grilled nuts and black cherry on the nose. Licorice-tinged fruit of good intensity. Tannins are a bit coarse, as with so many Fronsac wines.
