Tasting notes
Compared to the Howell Mountain cuvee, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a slightly denser ruby/purple color, more focused, concentrated blackcurrant fruit, good tannin management and excellent purity. It is more backward and less open-ended personality. This solid wine will benefit from several years of bottle aging and should keep for 10-15 years.

Deep ruby-red. A basket of blue and black berries on the nose, complicated by licorice and sexy spices. Big and broad but weightless, showing superb violet lift to the rich, suave black fruit flavors. Wonderfully elegant, balanced Howell Mountain cabernet with noble tannins and building floral length. This makes the Cuvee L'Etrier seem peppery and dry by comparison. Great potential here.
