Full stoppered bottle 1,234 g. I note that this famous wine now says 'Muy Seco' (very dry) and cites the grape Palomino Fino on the front label – probably a good idea. Very bready on the nose but a little fatter and looser than perfect Finos. The nose is more satisfying than the palate on which the lowish acidity is evident. The En Rama is definitely preferable. Salt, green apple, mushroom and bread – every time I taste this, it is faultless in its accuracy. So flavoursome and evocative! The best high-volume wine in the world? (RH)
Average age 4 years. Very pale straw. Very easy to enjoy. Classic wine to gulp for refreshment. No furrowed brow involved. A bit light – tastes almost dangerously light. Excellent tang on the end. But this is clearly not a handicraft. No great persistence but VGV . (JR)
Benchmark classic smoky-salty nose. Hay. Subtle, beautifully fresh, moderately sustained. Mouth-wateringly dry. Reliable and GV . (JH)
