Tasting notes
The 2019 Pinot Noir La Spirale is floral with rose petal, pure raspberry, and white pepper. The palate is dry, with energy and great structure, and the fruit is dry and crunchy with pomegranate, dried flowers, and orange peel. Hold this a couple of years and drink 2024-2034.

Glistening ruby. Intense red and blue fruit, floral and spice notes on the incisive nose, along with hints of cola and smoky minerals. Juicy and precise in the mouth, offering sappy raspberry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors and a bright, spicy topnote. Smoothly plays power off delicacy and finishes long and silky, with polished tannins framing repeating red fruit and floral notes.
The 2019 Pinot Noir La Spirale has a medium ruby-purple color and alluring scents of wild berry preserves, aniseed, charcuterie and dark spices. The medium-bodied palate is seamless and intense, with dark fruit character and a very long, very spicy finish.
Bergström's newest estate vineyard on the Ribbon Ridge AVA, a stone’s throw from Le Pré du Col Vineyard and within eyesight of the winery on the Chehalem Mountains AVA. South-west-facing, 22-acre rolling slope includes more than 14 different expressions of marine sedimentary soils. It was planted by the Redman family in 2005 and bought by the Bergströms in 2018. Fairly transparent garnet. Fruitily perfumed – really pretty seductive, true, flattering Pinot Noir aromas. Spicy but not sweet and with lovely freshness and purity. There are some fine tannins but it's already drinking very well. A real charmer. Delicate but completely satisfying. Very appetising. (JR)
