The 2015 Château de Fieuzal has good vigor on the nose, revealing mainly black fruit laced with licorice and allspice, though it seems more evolved than its peers and loses some intensity with aeration. The palate is Rhône-like on the entry, with sour cherry, dry tannins and a dab of cough candy on the finish. It falls apart in the final furlongs and confirms my tepid reaction to previous bottles. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners.

The 2015 de Fieuzal has an earthy and rather herbal bouquet that could be from a cooler vintage than this. The palate is bitter and raw, very green with a vegetal finish. This performed brilliantly from barrel but now tasted blind, it seems to vindicate the reservations I expressed just after bottling. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep straw. Vanilla cream on the nose, very rich and distinctive – sui generis . Massive build and embryonic but clean. Long but rather lacking acidity, and a bit clove-oil-like. (JR)
