Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid from Meteor Vineyard comes from a site in Coombsville, in the southern part of the Valley. Its deep purple color is followed by a terrific array of blueberries, spring flowers, violets, and bay leaf. Full-bodied, incredibly elegant, and graceful on the palate, it carries plenty of depth and richness, yet never seems heavy or cumbersome. It’s a classic, charming, perfectly balanced 2014 to enjoy over the coming 15-20 years.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid is gorgeous. Dark, plum, raspberry jam, cloves, leather, mint and sweet spice are all beautifully delineated in this attractive, mid-weight Cabernet. Soft, silky tannins make the 2014 surprisingly approachable, even in its youth. All the elements are impeccably balanced in a precise, briskly delineated style that is so typical of the year. A long, beautifully persistent finish rounds things out in style.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid has a saturated blue/black color and beautiful blueberry and blackberry fruit with some licorice, incense and camphor. It is full-bodied, elegant but pure, and dense, with a hint of minerality, but offers loads of fruit, body and extract. This wine is still youthful, and for a 2014, reasonably backward for the vintage. Give it another several years of bottle age and drink it over the following 20 years.
