(Girardin's last year for this bottling) Ruby-red. Wild, musky aromas of strawberry, minerals and smoky oak. Wonderfully silky on entry, then suave and aristocratic in the middle palate. Very subtle flavors build impressively on the sweet finish, which features very fine tannins.

Moderately saturated medium ruby. Highly aromatic nose combines cassis, black plum, coffee, minerals and smoked meat. Juicy, high-pitched and tightly wound; also comes across as rather cool but this seems riper than the Latricieres. Spicy and firmly structured wine, finishing with some apparent oak tannins and a perfumed floral quality. This will need a good seven or eight years to blossom. The fermentation temperature was the coolest of GirardinÂ’s 2002s.
