Tasting notes
Most felicitously, both Alex Hunt and I had brought a Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese. His, in a bottle size, was more youthful than my Loosen magnum of 2001. Green, pure, rapier-like attack that eventually broadened out in the glass. The acidity still masks the sweetness for the moment. (JR)

The nose of the Auslese is, like that of the Spätlese, quite developed. Lively lime cordial, with slight oiliness. Big impact. Much more open than the Spätlese. (JR)
