Tasting notes
A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc with the rest Petit Verdot, is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Songbook. Gorgeous crème de cassis notes, a hint of espresso and white chocolate jump from the glass of this inky purple wine. Multidimensional, extraordinarily rich, concentrated and full-bodied, this is another tour de force from Cliff Lede. The purity, the richness, the gravitas and overall character are amazing. This wine looks to be a candidate for 30+ years of drinking, which is especially long for a 2014.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Songbook emerges from blocks in David Abreu's Madrona Ranch and Thorevilos vineyards. A rush of dark red stone fruits, tobacco, cedar and menthol infuse the deep, powerful finish. There is plenty to like, but the 2014 needs time to come together as the tannins are quite raw. A heavy dose of oak comes through as the fruit intensity narrows on the finish.
