1997 Casal Pilozzo Colli di Catone Colle Gaio The Old White

100% Malvasia del Lazio from the Colle Gaio vineyard at 400 m on tuff soils of volcanic origin, and considered a Cru in Frascati. The wine is aged for 24 months in bottle before it is put onto the market . Intense straw yellow. Fine sweet nose, unostentatious and with no sign of oxidation or nuttiness. Just a hint of lees. Sweet Amalfi-lemon fruit palate and a hint of petrol. Really minerally and the acidity is just striking the balance. Complete and with still lots of life ahead of it. Would love to know what this looked like when it was first released. (WS)
