The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a somewhat metallic nose compared to others, perhaps showing just a very slight reduction. The palate is sharp and a little angular, which is not really what I want from a Chambolle-Musigny. Slightly bitter on the finish. I would leave this for a couple of years to round out the edges. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru contains between 25% and 30% whole bunches courtesy of 65-year-old vines. It has a perfumed, floral bouquet of brambly red fruit infused with pressed iris petals. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin. This feels more saline than the Les Cras and a little spicier, showing more substance toward the finish. It actually reminds me of a Chambolle from Ghislaine-Barthod. Impressive.
