Very dark purplish crimson. Appetising mintiness on the nose. Then just a little skinny on the palate. The acidity grips the palate rather grimly. Sweet and sour sensation with tannins not that ripe. (JR)

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is quite reticent today. Grilled herbs, plums, cassis, menthol and new leather all take shape in the glass. An attractive, medium-bodied wine, the 2010 finishes with substantial energy and tension. Ideally, it needs another few years in bottle to fully come together. The cool, savory side of the vintage and the slightly higher percentage of Coombsville fruit yield a Cabernet that is a touch compact.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa, a multi-AVA blend, is a brilliant 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 22 months in primarily new French oak. This beauty offers a dense purple color, lots of creme de cassis, licorice and forest floor notes, a youthful personality, and a quasi-Bordeaux-like tannic structure. It will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring, and should keep for two decades. It is undeniably a major sleeper of the vintage. Tel. (877) 586-9361
