2002 Leonetti Merlot Columbia Valley

Red-ruby. Rather vague aromas of red berries and mocha. Supple and broad on entry, then a bit dry in the mouth and lacking in stuffing. The oak element introduces exotic notes of tar and bourbon and dries the finish. Not as dense as usual for this bottling. "In 2002 the sugars came on too early," noted Chris Figgins.
