Tasting notes
Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta. Aged in 100% new barriques. Deep, almost youthful ruby with orange-tinged rim. Very savoury, almost minerally at the beginning. Dark and multilayered. Hints of cedar and fruit⁞⁞cake, touch peppery. Still quite closed on the nose, and holding back on the palate. Lots of elegance, and viscous mouthfeel. Potent, without going over the top, and with a delicious acidic bite. Very fine, ongoing grainy tannin. Very young, but already impressive. Bitter laurel note. 4 g/l RS. (WS)

The 2004 Amarone is beautiful and understated in its wild cherries, sweet herbs and flowers, all of which come together with unusual finesse and clarity. Silky, ripe tannins frame the exquisite finish. The 2004 is already approachable and should continue to drink nicely for another decade or so. This is a very representative vintage for Allegrini.
The 2004 Amarone Classico reveals well-articulated aromatics that lead to a poised expression of dark fruit, all supported by silky, refined tannins. This is a medium-bodied style of Amarone with a relatively low level of residual sugar of four grams per liter, which gives the wine its somewhat restrained personality. While I have no doubt this wine can age, I would prefer to enjoy it relatively young. Allegrini uses a combination of small barrels and larger casks for their Amarone, which is made from 80% Corvina Veronese, 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta.
