Tasting notes
Purlieu's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a blend of fruit from Sleeping Lady, Corona, Cortese, Teucer and a few other sites across the valley. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, mint, cedar, mocha, white flowers and spice are all wonderfully nuanced in a Cabernet Sauvignon that is deep and rich, but also remarkably vibrant. Quite simply, this is a fabulous appellation-level wine from Purlieu.

The core of this wine comes from Sleeping Lady Vineyard. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon gives up bold notions of creme de cassis, blackberry pie and chocolate covered cherries with wafts of fruit cake, plum preserves, garrigue and cedar chest plus a hint of unsmoked cigar. Med to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruit preserves with a firm, grainy frame and lovely freshness, finishing long with loads of exotic spice notes coming through.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a plush, dense wine. Still very primary, the 2017 has quite a bit of potential. Dark, mysterious and enveloping, today, the 2017 is opulent and racy, with very good balance.
