Tasting notes
Purlieu's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is dark, plush and enveloping. Blackberry jam, chocolate, new French oak, spice and leather meld together in a supple, juicy Cabernet that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The flamboyant, sumptuous style that works well for a wine that will most likely be enjoyed on the young side. Floral and spice notes add lift on the finish. The 2016 is an especially fine vintage for the Purlieu Napa Valley Cabernet.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon gives up exuberant notions of blackcurrant pastilles, blackberry compote and stewed red plums with touches of kirsch, potpourri, fragrant earth and cigar box. Full-bodied and opulently fruited in the mouth, the powerful flavors are well framed by firm, ripe tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) offers good aromatic lift to lay off the ripe, juicy, dark-fleshed fruit. Lavender, chocolate, plum and leather build in this vibrant, promising Cabernet Sauvignon from Purlieu. The tannins are nicely integrated for such a young wine, while the natural pedigree of the vintage is apparent.
