2016 Edge Hill Chardonnay Bacigalupi Vineyard

Full bottle all of 1,693 g! Unbeknown to many, the Bacigalupi vineyard supplied the Chardonnay for the winning white of the famous Judgment of Paris tasting in 1976, sold as Ch Montelena Chardonnay 1973 and made by Mike Grgich. Leslie Rudd of Rudd Estate restored Edge Hill, highly regarded between its establishment in 1867 and the advent of Prohibition when it was closed down. Kindly donated by Oscar Henquet of Rudd Estate. Deep, bright gold. Rich, ripe nose with a little hint of popcorn and more than a little oak but it’s still lively at more than nine years old. Lightly bitter finish. (JR)
