The 2016 HG III is fresh, floral and fruity, all qualities that make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Dark red cherry, flowers and sweet spice are nicely pushed forward in this aromatic, silky, mid-weight offering from Hourglass.
The 2016 Proprietary Red Hourglass H. G. III is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. Deep purple-black, it opens with notions of warm black plums, mulberries and Black Forest cake with touches of fallen leaves, baking spices and hoisin plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied with loads of spiced plums flavors on offer in the mouth, it has a plush texture and long, spicy finish.
The 2016 HG III is soft, pliant and nuanced, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. The black cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and new French oak show good definition in this supple, entry-level offering.
