Score 91/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2010

The 2006 Barolo Arborina offers up wild cherries galore, followed by sweet floral, spices aromas and flavors that add complexity. The wine reveals plenty of length although the intensity and plumpness of the fruit trails off just a touch as the finish becomes a bit slender. This looks to be the most forward of Corino's 2006 Barolos. Giuliano Corino's holdings in Arborina are in the southeast portion of that vineyard, and in 2006 he was spared the hail damage that affected his neighbors. Anticipated maturity.Corino's 2005 Barolo Vecchie Vigne (from old vines in Giachini) reveals terrific balance in a rich, weighty expression of dark fruit, spices, grilled herbs and sweet French oak. Powerful and long, the wine shows remarkable energy that never lets up. The finish is long, round and exceptionally refined. This is another hugely successful Barolo from proprietor Giuliano Corino.

Bright, dark red. Cherry and plum aromas are complemented by chocolatey oak. Broader and drier than the normale; more medicinal and bound-up today. Finishes with youthfully dry, mounting tannins and subtle hints of dark berries and spices.
