(includes some tiny grapes from old vines in Clos de Beze; 2005 was the last year in which the estate offered separate Chambertin and Clos de Beze bottlings): Medium red. Complex, soil-inflected aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, mocha, smoke, dried rose, licorice and menthol. Silky and rather delicate for Chambertin, with exotic cherry liqueur and raspberry flavors lifted by spices and complicated by a saline element. The very long finish features suave tannins and strong stony minerality. Lovely understated Chambertin with the balance to age well.

Good full medium red. Aromatically deep nose combines raspberry, wild herbs, flowers and licorice, along with some savory earth tones. Wonderfully supple, suave and elegant, impressive more for its silky mouthfeel than for its power. Deeper and spicier than the young-vines version, and much less obvious today. Finishes much longer, with the tannins arriving later. Since 2007, this cuvee includes a tiny quantity of Clos de Beze, which Gublin feels has added a floral element and resulted in a more vivid wine.
