Bright medium red. Less open-knit but higher-pitched on the nose than the Bonnes-Mares, conveying outstanding verve to the aromas of raspberry, crushed rock, flint and mint. Brilliantly delineated, stony wine with intense raspberry and spice flavors complemented by salty extract. Wonderfully pure red fruits and spices carry through the dynamic, intense finish, with the crushed-rock element stimulating the salivary glands. This is even more vibrant than the Bonnes-Mares and may need every bit as much cellaring.

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses has a wonderful bouquet that builds on the promise it showed from barrel 12 months ago. It is unequivocally beautifully defined with that rose petal signature infusing the shimmering red cherry and cranberry fruit. There is tangible energy being emitted from the glass. The palate is very suave with outstanding mineralité, defined by its supple ripe red berry fruit. It has a lovely snappiness, and though it remains understated, there is superb structure. Superb. Tasted November 2016.

Bright medium red. Aromas of red raspberry, crushed-stone and rose petal convey a subtly wild aspect. Very concentrated but youthfully restrained, showing terrific energy to its saline flavors of raspberry and minerals. Finishes very long and dry, with tactile, dusty tannins. A wonderfully laid-back 2014 with considerable class.
