(all clone 337, from gravelly loam soil on a steep slope at 1,000 feet): Deep medium ruby. Serious, brooding aromas of cassis, licorice and violet; a real essence of cabernet. A step up in intensity from the Jake's and Lakeview bottlings, showing impressive medicinal reserve and brisk framing acidity to the chewy but juicy black fruit flavors. This very dark wine's major tannic structure will require patience.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva's Vineyard is a huge wine that nevertheless maintains extraordinary elegance. Black fruit, smoke, licorice and wild herbs are some of the many notes that emerge from this muscular deep wine. This is a super-impressive showing. The Treva's is the only wine here aged in 100% new French oak barrels. The 2009 has more than enough stuffing to drink well for a number of years.
