10,000 vines per hectare. Picked before the heatwave in 2022. Aged 10 months in barrel. Unfined and unfiltered. Pineapple, baked apple, pear – very much the Chardonnay standard, and there's lovely weight on the palate, perhaps thanks to the lees contact. Superb restraint for a California Chardonnay – it has the cool, foggy influence on full display. (RH)

The 2022 Chardonnay Bressay Estate Vineyard, harvested on August 18th, was matured for 12 months in around 25% new oak and then spent an additional six months in stainless steel. It has pure aromas of Meyer lemon, fresh quince, crushed almonds and petrichor. The palate's kaleidoscopic layers of stone fruit, honey and floral perfume are arresting. It has a silky mouthfeel, refreshing acidity and a long, honey-nut finish. 350 cases were made.

Fresh aromas of sage, thyme, lemon curd and green apples. Medium-bodied with balance and verve. It’s minerally at the end with refinement, balance and al dente fruit. A gorgeous and transparent wine. Drink now.

The bright straw/green-colored 2022 Chardonnay Bressay Estate Vineyard comes from a high density one-hectare parcel with 9000 vines per hectare and surrounded by forest. The wine offers high-toned aromatics, with chalky aromas lifting from the glass with notes of lemon zest, fresh tarragon, crisp apple, and delicate baking spice. Medium-bodied, it has fantastic tension and persistence, with spice and an even spine of acidity, as well as a great chalky texture. It’s elegant and fresh and is going to show its best over the next ten years. It has a bit more of a Chablis slanting style. Drink 2024-2036.
