As to the reds, Benoit described the Las Piedras Vineyard as the sister of the Dr. Crane Vineyard and his 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard does show some of the earthy minerality that’s common from the Dr. Cane vineyard. Charcoal, black fruits, chocolate, and plenty of crushed rock notes give way to a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, layered 2015 that needs 3-4 years of bottle age. It’s an incredible wine and even has some upside. I continue to love the wines from winemaker Benoit Touquette and his latest 2015s are brilliant across the board.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras is scented of freshly crushed plums and blackberries with a loam, underbrush and crushed rock undercurrent, plus a waft of allspice. Full-bodied and tightly wound in the mouth, it has a rock-solid backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long with serious mineral layers.
