Tasting notes
The 2017 Chardonnay Bentrock is a super-expressive wine that captures an attractive mix of vibrancy and richness, while avoiding the strong reductive notes that have penalized some previous editions. Lemon confit, almonds, mint and white pepper give the 2017 a good deal of aromatic nuance and class. This is a relatively soft, open-knit style for Bentrock, which is not at all a bad thing, as wines from this site can be austere.

The 2017 Chardonnay Bentrock opens with a touch of gunflint and smoke, giving way to acacia, red apple skin, warm hay, pie crust and quince with white peach and crushed stone plus a creamy yogurt note. Light to medium-bodied, it has a good core of savory fruit with tangy acidity and a long, lively and textured finish. 164 cases were made.
