Score 82/100 · Drink 1997-2004, Robert Parker, Dec 1997

I thought the 1995 Merlot and 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon to be more narrowly constructed wines than the other offerings in this impressive portfolio. The 1995 Merlot exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, medium body, and a crisp, high acid personality with good fruit, but an attenuated finish. It should drink well for 6-7 years. This Spring Mountain winery continues to push the envelope of quality as evidenced by the current releases - the finest wines they have yet produced. Moreover, these wines catapult Pride Mountain into the top echelon of California's quality wineries. Tel. (707) 963-4949; Fax (707) 963-6039

Deep black-ruby color. Sappy, bright aromas of black raspberry and blueberry. Lush and layered, with enticing toffee and smoke notes and very firm underlying structure. Finishes with toothcoating, mountain-style tannins and a hint of shoe polish.
