2015 Domaine Pousse d'Or Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselots 1er Cru

Not yet bottled. Sweet and round and almost voluptuous fruit, tucked in to a set of wiry, muscular tannins. Emphatic sinews, a bit herbal, singed rosemary. Not ready to charm. (TC)

The 2015 Chambolle Musigny les Feusselottes 1er Cru felt reduced on the nose and was difficult to read when I encountered it. The palate is medium-bodied with rather hard tannin, very masculine and foursquare with an austere, almost Bordeaux-like finish. This wine is difficult to work out at the moment and I will seek to re-taste this once in bottle.

Bright medium ruby. Blueberry, wild huckleberry, menthol and licorice pastille on the very pure but reticent nose. Offers a plush texture and a restained sweetness but not quite the energy, lift or balance of the Charmes. Tannins are reasonably suave and well-supported, though. Patrick Landanger finished his harvest with his Chambolle vineyards on September 14. The rich, mounting finish displays a faintly gamey quality.
