Deep purple with some maroon notes already on the rim. Wild, herby, reminiscent of the Douro valley immediately on the nose. Marked acidity with pepper – that 'wild' smell I associate with bio viticulture. Very concentrated and confident. Suave with tannins and lots of lifted fruit. Very lively. If this were a table wine it would be northern Rhone Syrah. This tasted much better than an earlier sample tasted blind and noted only 15. (JR)
