(15.5% alcohol) Bright medium red. Oaky aromas of raspberry, tobacco and musky earth. Lush, supple and open-knit, with good sweetness but slightly elevated alcohol to the redcurrant, mocha and tobacco flavors. A warmer style of merlot than the 2006 version. Finishes with a building mocha oak quality. (My bottle of the Blueline Cabernet Franc was nutty and dull.)

The lush, exuberant, round 2007 Merlot Blueline does not have the complexity of the Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon, but it offers pretty notes of coffee, mocha, herbs, and chocolate intertwined with abundant berry fruit. Consume it over the next decade. This is an impressive group of elegant, concentrated, well-balanced reds. Hourglass has fashioned one of the most stunning Cabernet Francs of the vintage. Tel.
