A fresh and ripe if somewhat reserved nose speaks of violets, anise, clove and cinnamon on the mélange of red and blue pinot fruit that remains largely primary in character. The rich yet nicely detailed and ultra fine middle weight flavors are intensely mineral-driven while culminating in a poised if moderately robust finish that still displays the same hint of mandarin orange that it did from barrel. This is aging slowly and will need another 5 to 10 years to arrive at its full maturity.

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is totally rich and seductive from the very first taste. Layers of fruit emerge effortlessly from this gracious, supple Amoureuses. The finest, silkiest of tannins frame a gorgeous finish. The 2009 shuts down quickly in the glass, which is not so good for now, but does bode very well for the future. The wine's vibrancy and sheer energy both suggest a long life ahead.

Good bright, dark red. Raspberry, blueberry and pomegranate fruit aromas are complicated by exotic lichee and hints of peach and grapefruit. The silky palate shows a penetrating sweetness leavened by harmonious acidity, with captivating grapefruit and pineapple notes and firm underlying minerality contributing to the impression of precision. Very refined and lively wine, and not at all fat. Leaves a scent of red rose behind in the empty glass. Showing beautifully today.
