Score 96/100 · Drink 2023-2040, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, May 2022

All Cabernet Sauvignon from a steep parcel of terraced vines and cropped at two tons per acre, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Ridge spent 20 months in all-new French oak (a mix of Sylvain, Darnajou and Taransaud). Just slightly smoky-toasty on the nose, the cassis fruit leads the way. Full-bodied, rich and expansive on the palate, with a plush, velvety finish, this wine boasts plenty of material, without any sense of heaviness or of being overdone. Try it in a decade if you can wait.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Ridge Vineyard comes from a tiny parcel on the estate and there are a scant 152 cases produced. Brought up all in new oak, it has awesome aromatics of crème de cassis, chocolate, savory earth, and dried herbs in a full-bodied, structured package. I love its balance, it has lots of ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s another gem. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following three decades or more.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Ridge is beautifully lifted and also a bit more elegant than most of the other wines off this site. Crushed flowers, red/purplish berry fruit and relatively silky tannins (for a young wine) give this mid-weight, super-refined Cabernet so much appeal.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Ridge emerges from a block behind the historic home planted with low vigor rootstock on iron rich, Aiken soils. A powerful, vertical wine, the Heritage Ridge possesses off the chart intensity and phenomenal balance. Crushed rocks, lavender, menthol, plum and blackberry jam infuse the Heritage Ridge with myriad layers of nuance. Like all of the 2019s here, the Heritage Ridge is utterly magnificent.
