The 2020 Grand Village Blanc has a nuanced, finely delineated bouquet that unfurls in the glass. Yellow plum and white peach open, as hints of honeysuckle emerge with time. The palate is well balanced with more mineralité on the entry than its peers, remaining quite fresh with a sprightly touch of white asparagus toward the finish. There’s plenty of character here. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

The 2020 Grand Village (Lafleur) Blanc is mostly Sauvignon but includes 15% Semillon. It’s a medium-bodied, vibrant, downright racy white that brings beautiful concentration and depth on the palate, with bright acidity, terrific overall balance, and classic Sauvignon notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, white flowers, and mint. It has a distinct salinity on the finish and is going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and evolve for a good decade in cold cellars. It’s another incredible white from this team.

The 2020 Grand Village Blanc is a pretty heady wine, a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon. Tangerine peel, mint, apricot and lemon confit are nicely amplified. There's terrific depth and richness, even if the finish dries out a bit. The 2020 feels a bit raw and not fully formed today.
