Coming from pure sand soils, the ripe, flamboyantly-styled 2016 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse gives up stunning notes of tangerine oil, caramelized citrus, and white flowers, with a hint of tropical fruit with time in the glass. This medium to full-bodied, fleshy, ripe beauty has moderate acidity and plenty of richness and depth, all while staying balanced and fresh. There’s been a distinct style change at Kistler, with winemaker Jason Kesner purposely pulling back on the harvest dates and making a classic, age-worthy style of both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. He’s done this without sacrificing depth, concentration, or richness, and these latest 2016s are truly brilliant wines.
The 2016 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse Vineyard rocks up with effortless notions of pear tart, warm apple pie and lemon curd plus touches of spice cake, croissant, almond butter and lime cordial. Full-bodied, rich and wonderfully harmonious, it delivers incredibly intense stone fruit and spice layers with a very long savory finish.
