A delicious sauvignon blanc, as ever, showing smoky bacon, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, guava peel and kiwi fruit. Full-bodied and oily, but with real restraint and finesse, thanks to beautifully expressed acidity. Drink now.

The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc comes from both Sonoma Mountain and Napa Valley and was mostly barrel fermented. It offers lots of spiced citrus, white flowers, and salty mineral notes in its medium-bodied, layered, and textured style. Possessing both richness and freshness, it's a beautiful wine that's going to shine on the dinner table.

Spottswoode's 2017 Sauvignon Blanc is bright, floral and energetic, with lovely crispness to its citrus and floral notes. Drink it over the next few years. Fruit from a handful of outside sources in Napa Valley and Sonoma complement estate fruit in this bottling.

The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc comes from Sonoma Mountain, Knights Valley and about 5% from Napa Valley. It opens with beautifully intense notes of gooseberries, green apples, yuzu and lime juice with touches of mown grass, wild sage and chalk dust. Medium-bodied, crisp, refreshing and packed with zing, it delivers loads of citrus and herbal layers and a long, chalky finish.

About the producer

Spottswoode
Spottswoode

Spottswoode is one of those rare Napa estates whose reputation rests less on volume or spectacle than on persistent exactitude. Set on the western edge of St Helena, where the Mayacamas rise and afternoon breezes temper the valley’s warmth, the vineyard occupies a favoured pocket of the appellation.
