Score 87-89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2006
Good medium-deep red. Aromas of redcurrant, minerals, spices, leather and iron. Firmly built but a bit peppery and herbal, with limited mid-palate sweetness. Due to the combination of a leaner middle and an impression of higher acidity, the tannins come across as a tad dry. Meo notes that this wine has suffered from the recent racking, and predicts it will show good purity of fruit in a 2001 style.
