Score 85/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

Tasted at Pebbles/Zachy’s 1982 dinner in Hong Kong. As one would expect, this Pauillac has a very foursquare graphite scented nose with touches of bay leaf and decayed autumn leaves. It is nicely defined but lacking vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity. It is very conservative with a metallic tincture towards the finish. This has just turned the corner and is in gradual decline. Tasted November 2012.

Deep, with some evolution. Thick, dense and lively. Big, round and bloody. Mouthfilling. Plump and rumbustious. (JR)

A lean, austere 1982 classified growth, Haut-Batailley exhibits a dark ruby/garnet color as well as aromas of earth, herbs, old wood, prunes, and mushrooms. Dry, tannic, and losing its fruit, this wine requires consumption. Sadly, I did not have a bottle in my cellar to double check its status, but based on the Philadelphia tasting, owners of this wine should drink it up. Wine Advocate.June, 2000
