(bottled in late April): Exotic aromas of pineapple, mirabelle and lemon candy. Plush and fine-grained on entry, then sappy and salty in the middle palate, displaying almost painful thrust to its brisk yellow fruit and mineral flavors. For all its thickness and solidity, this very long wine's piquant minerality gives it outstanding verve.

The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes has a clean and precise bouquet -- a bouquet with a steely gaze. The palate is clean and fresh with a lovely bead of acidity interwoven through the brioche and walnut-tinged fruit, gently building towards a very harmonious finish. This is a great Chassagne-Montrachet from Pierre-Yves -- and I love that spiciness that lingers as I'm typing these last words.

Barrel sample. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has had this since 2002 but 'it took a few years to understand it'. Very calcaire and pebbly. Bottom of the hill. On the Puligny side. Light soils. Fresh and delicate. Rather playful and floral. Softer than many of his wines. Though still lots of tension. (JR)

Pale, bright yellow. A note of musky reduction to the aromas of pear and exotic fruits. An attractive pineapple sweetness is nicely countered by surprising acidity. Nicely balanced premier cru with very good length.
