The 2015 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Caillerets is excellent, wafting from the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of white flowers, lemon oil, struck match and wet stones. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tensile and complete, with excellent depth at the core, terrific purity, and chalky grip on the long, beautifully balanced and searingly intense finish. This is still somewhat withdrawn after its April 2017 bottling, but it has all the elements for greatness with some bottle age.

Pale, bright yellow. Precise but restrained aromas of underripe pineapple, lime oil and crushed rock. Wonderfully sappy wine with citrus oil and stone flavors and a strong impression of acidity that's atypical for the vintage. Extremely long, penetrating, perfumed flavors of lemon and crushed rock give the finish a light touch. This wine comes from the family's vineyard at the top of the cru; Colin describes it as "the Chassagne-Montrachet to age."

Cask sample. Fairly light nose. Lemon and lime and all in the future! Lots to chew on and masses of tension. Should blossom eventually. (JR)

Lovely bright lemon-green color. Vibrant, musky aromas of lime, spearmint and crushed stone. Fresh, sappy and highly concentrated, showing terrific citrussy energy and tactile dusty stone flavors but also the smooth grain of the vintage's best examples. Offers a very successful balance of flesh and mineral-driven acidity. Really saturates the mouth on the very long, horizontal finish.
