Tasting notes
The 2018 Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru has a beautiful nose of orange blossom, crushed rock and touch of quince, very focused and articulating its terroir. The palate is very well balanced with a tangy, lightly spiced opening featuring hints of curry leaf. Just a touch of reduction on the finish, but it feels very persistent and leaves the mouth tingling for 30 second afterward. Excellent.

The 2018 Meursault Goutte d’Or 1er Cru is blessed with a wonderful, mineral-driven bouquet with delicate walnut and hazelnut aromas. The harmonious, well-balanced palate delivers candied orange peel and quince on the entry and a persistent, disarmingly pure finish that you could elope with. Brilliant.
As usual, the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or, which derives from clay-rich soils, makes for quite a contrast after the Bouchères, where the soils are richer in active calcium. Unwinding to reveal aromas of citrus oil, fresh peach, white flowers and a deft touch of minty new oak, the wine is medium to full-bodied, muscular and incisive, with a deeper and more structured profile than the ethereal Bouchères.
