Tasting notes
The medium-intense amber colored 2000 Riesling Clos Saint-Urbain Rangen de Thann opens with a rather delicate, pure, fresh, beautifully matured and aromatic bouquet of stewed stone fruit aromas intermingled with flinty notes and dried mushroom tones. Dense and juicy on the palate, this is a full-bodied, round, intense and rich yet also uplifting and fresh Rangen with a clear, precise, aromatic, stimulatingly savory, long and intense finish that combines the sensual apricot fruit with the saline acidity of the clos. From the richer Rieslings of Humbrecht's Rangen history, the 2000 is probably the most stimulating and refreshing one. It was bottled with 14.3% alcohol and 19 grams per liter of residual sugar under natural cork. Tasted in March 2024.

Classic smoky, flinty Rangen aromas along with musky quinine. Extremely ripe and concentrated; has a chewy, three-dimensional texture. Firm acids give the flavors lovely crispness for a wine with about 25 g/l r.s. Great resounding finish goes on and on.
