Tasting notes
Coming from vines near To Kalon in Oakville, the 2019 Cabernet Franc Oakville is a sensational expression of the variety offering loads of ripe, smoky red and black currant-like fruits as well as notes of camphor, forest floor, baking spices, and chocolate on the nose. It's slightly more perfumed and herbal compared to the Cabernet Sauvignon, with a solid floral/foresty edge that emerges with time in the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a layered, opulent, classic 2019 mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It's beautiful Cabernet Franc to drink over the coming 15 years or so.

Detert's 2019 Cabernet Franc is bright, floral and full of energy. Sweet red berry fruit, rose petal, cinnamon and mocha all race out of the glass. Veins of vibrant acids and supporting tannin give the 2019 notable drive. The 2019 impresses with its freshness, nuance and sense of balance. It's a gorgeous wine in every way. As always, the straight Franc bottling presents a much more red-toned fruit profile than the East Block Franc.
The 2019 Cabernet Franc is bright, effusive and full of energy. Red fruit, rose petal, mocha, wild flowers and vibrant saline notes give this mid-weight Franc tons of energy. The 2019 has real energy, not to mention tons of character, all in a mid-weight style that is hugely appealing.
