Tasting notes
Bright medium ruby to the rim. Expressive scents of cassis, blackberry, bitter chocolate, sweet oak and menthol, plus a slight greenness. Supple, chocolatey and sweet but ultimately simple and a bit monolithic, with strong menthol and sweet oak notes dominating the dark berry and black cherry fruit flavors. Finishes a touch sour, with rather dusty tannins and modest length. (15.5% alcohol)

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline shows good up-front intensity in its dark red fruit, but then loses most of its depth on the mid-palate and finish. Super-ripe, jammy black fruit, vanilla and oak dominate the wine's aromatic and flavor profile.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline shows good up-front intensity in its dark red fruit, but then loses most of its depth on the mid-palate and finish. Super-ripe, jammy black fruit, vanilla and oak dominate the wine’s aromatic and flavor profile. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. These wines from Hourglass are made in an up-front, juicy style that emphasizes fruit. I found many of the wines distinctly sweet and alcoholic, with little to offer in the way of varietal definition. I also tasted a number of older vintages, and while the wines do hold, they don’t materially improve over time. Tel. (707) 968-9332
