Tasting notes
Checking in as 65% Mourvèdre, 31% Grenache, and the rest Counoise, all from the El Dorado AVA and red volcanic soils, the 2015 Caldera is a rocking blend from California that’s loaded with character. Kirsch, blackberries, spiced meats, dried Provençal herbs, and plenty of peppery notes all give way to a rounded, ripe, voluptuous 2015 that has terrific purity of fruit, a mouthfilling texture, and a great finish.

The 2015 Caldera, Helen Keplinger's Mourvèdre/Grenache/Cunoise blend, is wonderfully fleshy and seductive, with a bit more darkness and richness than is often the case. Then again, that is the style of the year. Wild cherry, sweet, tobacco, licorice and dried herbs are front and center in this racy, inviting red. Silky tannins wrap around the plush fruit.
