Another complex, nuanced wine in the lineup, the 2017 Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard has pretty, savory red fruits, oyster shell, spice, and old flower-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied on the palate, with light tannins and terrific balance, this is one of those wines that keeps bringing you back to the glass. It benefits from air and is going to evolve nicely for 7-8 years or more.

Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard offers great layering of fruit, spice and earth on the nose, with scents of blueberry, cranberry, red apple skin, citrus peel, dried herbs and moss plus notes of stone and spices. It's medium-bodied, silky and rounded in the mouth with a firm frame of chalky tannins and juicy freshness to lift the layered finish. 212 cases were made.

From a plot planted in 1971, this has a wealth of spice-dusted violets, raspberries, sliced strawberries and pink grapefruit. Very lively. The palate has a super silky, plush feel with gently plump texture that carries plenty of red-berry, cherry and strawberry flavor. The smooth resolve here is compelling and very refined now, but this has plenty of potential, too. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard Pinot Noir is nuanced, refined and super-expressive. Silky tannins and bright, floral-infused red berry fruit grace this mid-weight, lifted Pinot. Deceptively medium in body, the Allen will drink well with minimal cellaring, but it should also age gracefully. In this range, the Allen is a wine of subtlety and nuance.
