Spiced butter aromas emanate from the glass of the 2001 Puligny-Montrachet Champs-Canet. Rich, layered, and ample, this light to medium-bodied effort coats the palate with smoky lemon flavors. It is pure, delineated, and admirably long. Anticipated maturity: now-2009. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

(13.2% natural alcohol, the highest of the domain in 2001 due to millerandage and a low crop level of 39 hectoliters per hectare) Sweet aroma of pear liqueur. Fat, rich, spicy and sweet, with pear and peach flavors. Has a thickness of texture but also good cut and delicacy, with lovely integrated acidity keeping the wine shapely and pure. Finishes with mineral and floral notes. Strong juice.
