Medium red. Wild, musky aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, mocha and coffee. Thick and dense but shapely, with good energy to the dark fruit, mineral and bitter chocolate flavors. At once large-scaled and confectionery for young RSV, this wine really calls for six to eight years of cellaring.

(like the Clos Vougeot, this was vinified with 15% whole clusters) Good deep medium red. Dark berries, Oriental spices, mocha and cocoa powder on the nose, lifted by a mineral component. Silky, lush and quite dry, showing more in reserve than the Clos Vougeot. Still in a rather liqueur-like style but offers more tension than the Clos Vougeot. And not the ripest 2009 in the cellar, at 13.2%. Became oakier in the glass. This and the Chaboeufs are showing the most energy, and the least surmaturite, today.
