Score 95-97/100 · Drink 2027-2050, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2021 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru was made with 75% whole clusters this year. This is a tangible level up from the Echézeaux with vivacious dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, much more in terms of concentration and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins that frame the pure, very saline fruit. Energetic and animated on the finish. This has serious potential. Superb.

Wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, vine smoke, peonies, rose petals, spices and orange zest, the 2021 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a layered core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, saline finish.
