The generic 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is a major winner and right up there with Boswell’s single vineyard, more expensive bottlings. Deep purple, its opulent nose of blackberry and blueberry fruit as well as some graphite and acacia flowers are followed by toasty oak and charcoal in a full-bodied, majestic mouthfeel. There are 300 cases of this gorgeous wine, which should continue to drink well for 15-20 years.

Rich, ample and powerful, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville offers superb near term appeal and tons of voluptuousness. Dark red cherry, mocha, spice, lavender, cloves and new leather meld together in a distinctly forward, unctuous Cabernet. The soft contours and silky tannins will make the 2013 nearly impossible to resist, even in its youth. The final blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.
Another beauty, the elegant 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is sourced half from the Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard and the balance from Tench and a little from the Two Dogs, all in Oakville. This is aged in 90% new Taransaud and 10% new Sylvain oak. Plush blackberry and blackcurrant fruit mixed with incense, camphor and vanillin are followed by a wine with good body, sweet tannin, a velvety, opulent mouthfeel and a long, substantial finish. It should drink beautifully when released and evolve for a decade or more.
