Tasting notes
100% Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit sourced from Ryan’s Vineyard in Oak Knoll. Medium lemon in colour. Outstanding aroma intensity on the nose – orange, vanilla and purple chive blossoms in an incredibly aromatic bouquet kissed by a light note of caramel. The palate falls just a touch short of the high expectations set by the nose – not as textured or concentrated as the other nine wines in this vertical, perhaps because of the lack of Musqué and Sémillon, which was added in future blends? Nonetheless, a very good start to what is now 10 years of Accendo Cellars Sauvignon Blanc – and ageing marvellously well. (SCJ)

85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sémillon. Made by Françoise Peschon for the Araujo family. This is the first vintage of Accendo. Opening with a mix of white fig, white peach and grapefruit pith, the 2013 carries fresh fruits from the nose through palate, followed by savoury tones and a silken mouthfeel. It offers nice depth with a balance of flesh and acidity. A beautiful, sophisticated wine with elegance, power and precision. An example of how much the variety can offer in this region. (ECB)
